Guided tourTry Bookkeeper Dashboard yourself
Follow these 11 steps in your free trial and you will have used most of the app, in about 65 minutes. Use made-up clients if you like. Nothing here needs a real client.
Start your free 7-day trial, or sign in if you already have one.
Step 1 · about 5 min · Clients
Add a practice client
- Open Clients in the left menu and add a new client.
- Use made-up details if you prefer, for example "Harbour Cafe Pty Ltd". You can delete it afterwards.
You should see: The client now has its own page. Everything else in this tour hangs off that page.
Step 2 · about 10 min · Clients, then Proposals
Send a proposal and get it e-signed
- From your client's page, create a proposal. Pick your services and set a price.
- Send it to an email address you can open yourself, such as a second email of yours.
- Open the email, view the proposal and sign it as your "client".
You should see: The proposal moves to Accepted in Proposals, and the signed copy is stored for you.
Step 3 · about 5 min · Clients
See what your client sees: the client portal
- Open your client and choose Copy Portal Link.
- Paste the link into a private (incognito) window.
You should see: A branded space where a client can see their documents and upload receipts. It carries your practice name, not ours.
Step 4 · about 5 min · Job Templates
Set up recurring work with a job template
- Open Job Templates and choose a system template, such as a monthly bookkeeping job.
- Apply it to your client.
You should see: A set of dated tasks appears for that client, one per step.
Step 5 · about 5 min · Tasks
Work your tasks
- Open Tasks and find the tasks the template created.
- Tick one off and change a due date.
You should see: Overdue and due-soon work is flagged in the menu so nothing slips.
Step 6 · about 5 min · Chat with Sage
Ask Sage, your practice advisor
- Open Chat with Sage and ask a real question, such as "What is the due date for my client's quarterly BAS?".
You should see: An answer in plain English. Sage knows Australian BAS and the financial year runs 1 July to 30 June.
Step 7 · about 5 min · Meetings, then Appointment Booking
Let clients book you
- Open Appointment Booking, add a meeting type, set your Availability, and copy your booking link.
- Open the link in a private window and book a slot.
You should see: The booking lands on your calendar and your client gets a confirmation.
Step 8 · about 5 min · Tools, then Intake Forms
Collect client details with an intake form
- Open Intake Forms and choose New form, then open its public link.
- Fill it in as a new client would.
You should see: The response appears under Responses, ready to turn into a client.
Step 9 · about 5 min · My Documents
Try the document library
- Open My Documents and browse the templates.
- Generate one for your client.
You should see: A finished, editable document with your practice details already filled in.
Step 10 · about 5 min · Tasks, then Review Time
Track time
- In Tasks, press Timer on a task, work for a minute, then stop it.
- Open Review Time to check any time the app captured automatically, and accept or dismiss it.
You should see: Accepted time feeds the Time Report so you can see what each client is really worth.
Step 11 · about 10 min · Practice Setup, then Integrations
Connect Xero or QuickBooks (optional)
- Connect a Xero or QuickBooks organisation, even a demo one.
- Open the Xero Health Check and the Unreconciled Report.
- Flag an unreconciled item and request a receipt from your client.
You should see: Your client gets a request, uploads a receipt in their portal, and it arrives pre-matched in Receipts.
These features need Xero or QuickBooks. If your clients use MYOB, skip this step and join the MYOB waitlist.
